It’s ski season in Arizona! I’m an avid fan of the sport and have compiled a list of ski destinations in Arizona, as well as those within a one-day drive of Phoenix, AZ. Next time you’re looking for a good ski place, check out this list.
If you want to ski in Arizona your best bet is always going to be in northern Arizona. Here are the locations in AZ:
- Arizona Snowbowl — Flagstaff, AZ
- Sunrise Ski Park — Greer, AZ
- Mt. Lemmon — Tucson, AZ
Within a one-day drive of Phoenix, AZ:
- Taos, New Mexico
- Telluride, Colorado
- Brians Head, Utah
- Big Bear, California
- SteamBoat Springs, Colorado
- Mt. Heavenly in Lake Tahoe, California
- Wolf Creek near Pagosa Springs, Colorado
I’ve been to Sunrise and Snowbowl and highly recommend both of them. If you’re looking for a one-day event, then Snowbowl is definitely possible. I’ve done it before… just get up super early, drive to Flagstaff, and you can be home that night. Sunrise is a better weekend trip. You’ll definitely need to get a hotel up there since it takes a good 4 hours to drive to Greer.
